MINUTES OF MONTHLY MEETING OF NORTHEASTERN WISCONSIN AREA LOCAL #2247

Date:  Tuesday, April 27th, 2021

Place:  Gallagher’s

President Kelly Heaney called the meeting to order at 2:30 pm.

A quorum was declared with 21 members in attendance. 

Kelly Heaney led the Pledge of Allegiance and Steve Paradise gave the Invocation. 

The following officers were present:

President Kelly Heaney, Vice President Dave Kroll, Secretary/Treasurer Art Ciesielczyk, Recording Secretary Jenny Starry, Bay Breeze Editor Kelsey Helf, Clerk Craft Director Steve Paradise and Motor Vehicle Craft Director Jeremy Linberg.  

Minutes of the March 2021 meeting were printed in the Bay Breeze.  A motion was made by Steve Paradise and seconded by Dave Kroll to accept the minutes.  Motion passed unanimously. 

 The financial report for March was read by Secretary/Treasurer Art Ciesielczyk.  

Executive Committee:  The e-board discussed the union apparel and paying Kelsey to go pick it up, sending Kelly to the NPC in June in Colorado Springs, a level 7 quick-bid and reverting a job and wearing masks. 

Labor/Management:  Mask mandates were discussed; we follow the Federal Government and Brown County Dept of Health mandates.  Management is pulling your time card when you call in sick and should let you know how many occurrences you have when you come back.      

Grievance:   Attendance grievances are being resolved.  AO grievances for postmaster hours are being filed.  If you get bypassed for overtime, let a steward know.  You will get a make-up.      

Safety/Health:  OSHA was called for the aisles.  If you see a safety violation, report it.              

Legislative:  Steve Paradise gave the legislative report.  Call your senators and tell them to support the PRO Act, the right to organize and to support Biden’s nominees for the Postal Board of Governors.  The APWU supports HR1, HR695 and Senate Bill 145, the pre-funding bill.  He also talked about postal workers being allowed to campaign for up to 90 days and get paid by COPA.            

OWCP  If you get hurt at work, report it immediately.  If you get hurt outside of work, you have to write a letter requesting light duty.  They may find you something and it can be on any tour. 

Constitution:      Steve presented an updated NEWAL Standing Book of Resolutions.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS 

Dave talked about the union apparel.  He has samples and order forms.  The order forms will be available on newal.org and Cindy will have them at work.  Orders must be in by May 31st.  If you have questions, ask Dave Kroll. 

NEW BUSINESS

A motion was made by Dave Kroll and seconded by Art Ciesielczyk to pay Kelsey Helf round trip mileage and per diem to go pick up the union apparel in Waterloo Iowa.  Motion passed unanimously. 

A motion was made by Dave Kroll and seconded by Jeremy Linberg to send Kelly Heaney to the National Presidents Convention June 4th -8th in Colorado Springs to include lost time, per diem, transportation, registration and lodging.  Motion passed unanimously. 

OTHER BUSINESS

VMF is looking for mechanics.  It’s open to the public. 

NEXT MEETING

A motion was made by Jeremy Linberg and seconded by Dave Kroll to have the next meeting on Tuesday, May 18th at 2:30 pm at Gallagher’s.  Motion passed with 20 yea’s and 1 nay. 

ADJOURNMENT

A motion was made by Ben Edinger and seconded by Pam Krause to adjourn the meeting.  Motion passed unanimously.  NEWAL meeting adjourned at 4 pm.

The $10 door prize was won by Jon Hasart.

The $160 rolling jackpot winner was Terry Ertl.  He was not present so it will be $180 at the next meeting.
