MINUTES OF MONTHLY MEETING OF NORTHEASTERN WISCONSIN AREA LOCAL #2247
Date: Sunday, August 23rd, 2020
Place: Gallagher’s
President Kelly Heaney called the meeting to order at 1900 hours.
A quorum was declared with 12 members in attendance.
Kelly Heaney led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Steve Paradise gave the Invocation.
The following officers were present:
President Kelly Heaney, Vice President Dave Kroll, Secretary/Treasurer Art Ciesielczyk, Recording Secretary Jenny Starry, Bay Breeze Editor Kelsey Helf, Clerk Craft Director Steve Paradise, Motor Vehicle Craft Director Jeremy Linberg, and Maintenance Craft Director Pete Knutson.
Minutes of the June 2020 meeting were printed in the Bay Breeze.
A motion was made by Steve Paradise and seconded by Jeremy Linberg to accept the minutes. The motion passed unanimously.
The financial report for July 2020 was read by Secretary/Treasurer Art Ciesielczyk.
Executive Committee: The e-board discussed having a non-partisan info message to the public in front of the Post Office on Tuesday, August 25th, from 10 am to 12. We are no longer the Lakeland District. We are now the West Shore District of the Western Region. Bethany Paiser is asking for donated annual leave. The e-board discussed getting shirts and hats for members.
Labor/Management: Items discussed were racism, 3189’s, meetings for customer service grievances, mask-wearing, the new floor plan, and possible rebid of jobs. The minutes are posted.
Grievance: A line-H grievance was settled at step 3. A TACS grievance was sent back up for step 3.
Safety/Health: The handicapped parking spaces will be re-painted.
Legislative: Steve Paradise gave the legislative report. He recommends anyone within five years of retirement to subscribe to NARFE. The new Postmaster General wants to eliminate door to door delivery. He wants all mailboxes on the road. The full repeal of the pre-funding requirement is being held up in the Senate.
OWCP: If you get hurt at work, it’s up to you to tell the doctor it is work-related and turn in the paperwork and get the claim number.

NEW BUSINESS
A motion was made by Kelsey Helf and seconded by Jeremy Linberg to spend up to $5000 to get t-shirts and hats for members.
A motion was made by Dave Kroll and seconded by Maribel Sauer to amend the motion to spend up to $8000 to get t-shirts and hats for members. Amendment passed unanimously. Amended motion passed unanimously.
A motion was made by Dave Kroll and seconded by Deb Nehmer to pay up to $500 for a shredding business to shred union papers that are no longer needed. Motion passed unanimously.
A motion was made by Art Ciesielczyk and seconded by Dave Kroll to give Rasmussen College $100 for the use of a room for the elections. Motion passed unanimously.
A motion was made by Art Ciesielczyk and second by Jeremy Linberg to pay e-board members a one time covid payment of $100 and pay Kelsey Helf $60 for the meetings that were cancelled.
A motion was made by Jeremy Linberg and seconded by Steve Paradise to table the above motion for more clarification. Motion passed unanimously.
A motion was made by Art Ciesielczyk and seconded by Dave Kroll to give everyone that attends the November union meeting a $25 Festival Foods gift card. Motion passed unanimously.
OTHER BUSINESS
The winners of the Tony Van Scholarships are Alan Thomas, son of Bryce Thomas and Anna Kroll, daughter of Dave Kroll. Andrew Kroll is an alternate.
NEXT MEETING
A motion was made by Dave Kroll and seconded by Kelsey Helf to have the next meeting on Wednesday, September 23rd, at 7 pm. Motion passed unanimously.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Jeremy Linberg and seconded by Dave Kroll to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed unanimously. NEWAL meeting adjourned at 2025 hours.
The $10 door prize was won by Pete Knutson.
