MINUTES OF MONTHLY MEETING OF NORTHEASTERN WISCONSIN AREA LOCAL #2247
Date: Sunday, February 26, 2017
Place: Buster’s Bar & Grill
President Kelly Heaney called the meeting to order at 1800 hours.
A quorum was declared with 21 members in attendance.
Kelly Heaney led the Pledge of Alliance and Dave Villwock read the invocation.
The following officers were present:
President: Kelly Heaney, Vice-president: Steve Paradise, Motor Vehicle Craft Director: Tim Alberts, Maintenance Craft Director: Dave Villwock, Recording Secretary: Jenny Starry, Secretary/Treasurer: Bryce Thomas and Clerk Craft Director: Dave Kroll. Bay Breeze Editor:Kelsey Helf was excused.
Minutes of the January 2017 meeting were read by Jenny Starry. A motion was made by Dave Kroll and seconded by Nick Ratajczyk to accept the minutes. Motion passed unanimously.
The financial report for January 2017 was read by Bryce Thomas.
REPORTS
Executive Committee: The e-board recommendations:
To send up to 10 people to the John Akey Seminar on August 11-12, 2017 in Wisconsin Dells.
To send all craft directors or an alternate to the All Craft Conference in Las Vegas on October 2-4, 2017.
To send Bryce Thomas to the Secretary/Treasurer Conference in Las Vegas on September 29-October 4, 2017.
Authorizing the Christmas party expenditures that were made at Wal-Mart.
Labor/Management: There was a labor management meeting on February 8, 2017. Why management is asking Postal Pulse questions on employee reviews was discussed. Lack of training was discussed.
Grievance: A grievance was filed under zero tolerance for employee reviews. Job reversion grievances are being filed.

Safety/Health: Push don’t pull! If you get hurt when you’re pulling equipment, it’s on you. Don’t pull 3 APC’s at a time. Maintenance/safety issues at the stations were discussed.
Legislative: Steve Paradise read the legislative report. The only bill still in the House is The Postal Reform Act of 2017, H.R. 756. All 4 National Postal Union Presidents are supporting it while the NARFE is opposed to it.
OWCP:
Constitution: A change to the Constitution pertaining to Stewards getting paid for attending union meetings was discussed. This language will be amended and brought up at the next meeting.

A motion was made by Dave Villwock and seconded by Terry Wentworth to send up to 10 members to the John Akey Seminar in Wisconsin Dells on August 10-11, 2017 to include lost time, per diem, parking, transportation, registration and mileage. Motion passed unanimously.
A motion was made by Dave Kroll and seconded by Steve Paradise to send all craft directors or an alternate to the All Craft Conference in Las Vegas on October 2-4, 2017 to include lost time, per diem, lodging, parking, transportation, registration and mileage. Motion passed unanimously.
A motion was made by Lucy Hauser and seconded by Terry Wentworth to add lodging to the John Akey seminar. Motion passed unanimously.
A motion was made by Tim Alberts and sconded by Nick Ratajczyk to send Bryce Thomas to the Secretary/Treasurer Conference in Las Vegas on September 29-October 1, 2017 in Las Vegas to include lost time, per diem, lodging , parking, transportation, registration and mileage. Motion passed unanimously.
A motion was made by Lucy Hauser and seconded by Terry Wentworth to table the motion to send Bryce Thomas to the Secretary/Treasurer conference. Motion passed with 19 aye’s and 2 nay’s.
A motion was made by Steve Paradise and seconded by Lucy Hauser to authorize the expenditures already made to the people who bought gifts at Wal-Mart for the Christmas Party. Motion passed unanimously.
A motion was made by Dave Kroll and seconded by Nick Ratajczyk to have the next meeting on March 30, 2017 at 7pm at location TBD. Motion passed with 20 aye’s and 1 nay.
OTHER BUSINESS
ADJOURNMENT A motion was made by Cheryl Schoen and seconded by Deb Nehmer to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed unanimously. NEWAL meeting adjourned.
The $10 door prize was won by Peter Knutson.
