MINUTES OF MONTHLY MEETING OF NORTHEASTERN WISCONSIN AREA LOCAL #2247

 

Date:  Wednesday, July 19th, 2017

Place:  Denny’s

President Kelly Heaney called the meeting to order at 2150 hours.

A quorum was declared with 21 members in attendance.

Kelly Heaney led the Pledge of Alliance and Brian Bex led the invocation.

The following officers were present:

President: Kelly Heaney, Vice President: Steve Paradise, Clerk Craft Director: Dave Kroll, Maintenance Craft Director: Dave Villwock, Recording Secretary: Jenny Starry, Secretary/Treasurer: Bryce Thomas, and Bay Breeze Editor: Kelsey Helf.  Motor Vehicle Craft Director: Tim Alberts was excused.

Minutes of the May 2017 meeting were printed in the Bay Breeze.  A motion was made by Steve Paradise and seconded by Christine Bouyear to accept the minutes as printed in the Bay Breeze.  Motion passed unanimously.

The financial reports for May 2017 and June 2017 were read by Bryce Thomas.

REPORTS

Executive Committee:   The e-board discussed:

Christine Bouyear will be the tour 3 steward.

The John Akey seminar.   Randy Seager stepped down as tour 3 chief steward and Christine Bouyear stepped up so Christine will be going in Randy’s place.

The audit committee’s recommendations.

Excessing at the AO’s.

Next meeting.

Labor/Management:  Running with 4 people, 3 loaders and 1 sweeper on the flat sorter was discussed.  Grievances should be filed.  NLRB charges were filed for request for information, denial of steward time, and not following step 3 agreements pertaining to mandating and overtime lists.  The reposting of jobs and RI-399 were discussed.

Grievance:   On DB’s, for the first 30 minutes, one person can run alone.  This is a step 2 settlement and it should be followed.  Improper mandation for the 4th of July Holiday.   PSE’s should have been scheduled 12 hours.  A grievance was filed about 204B’s.  They’re watching attendance and phones on the workroom floor.

 

Automation:   DBCS 6 has been tarped.

Safety/Health:   If you get hurt off the job and you miss work contact ABA.

Legislative:   Steve Paradise gave the Legislative report.   HR 756 is not completely dead.  He talked about the rumors on a buyout.  Go to postalemployeenetwork.com.  It’s run by postal employees for postal employees.

OWCP:  If you get hurt on the floor you face a meeting with Dave Tauscher on working safely.  Make sure your injury report is filled out correctly before you sign it.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

A motion was made by Steve Paradise and seconded by Dave Kroll to untable the recommendations made by the Audit Committee that were presented at our last union meeting.  Motion passed unanimously.

A motion was made by Dave Kroll and seconded by Dave Villwock that the NEWAL APWU authorizes the expenditure for the purchase of two State of Wisconsin APWU polo shirts in reference to check #8203 that were purchased for the APWU National Convention in 2016.

A motion to amend the previous motion was made by Steve Paradise and seconded by Cindy Turritin to add; Furthermore, that NEWAL APWU will authorize the purchase of State of Wisconsin APWU polo shirts for official NEWAL delegates attending future APWU National Conventions.  Motion passed unanimously.

The motion as amended:

A motion was made by Dave Kroll and seconded by Dave Villwock that NEWAL APWU authorizes the expenditure for the purchase of two State of Wisconsin APWU polo shirts in reference to check #8203 that were purchased for the APWU National Convention in 2016.  Furthermore, that NEWAL APWU will authorize the purchase of State of Wisconsin APWU polo shirts for official NEWAL delegates attending future APWU National Conventions.  Motion passed unanimously.

A motion was made by Dave Kroll and seconded by Dave Villwock that in light of the fact that Bryce Thomas has spent $1200 out of his own pocket to a CPA for 990 and LM3 reports, the NEWAL APWU does not wish to seek that Bryce Thomas pay $107 in interest and late fees to be refunded to the union by the secretary/treasurer himself.  Motion passed unanimously.

The other audit committee’s recommendations were discussed.

NEW BUSINESS

A motion was made by Dave Kroll and seconded by Deb Nehmer to have the next meeting on Sunday, August 20th at 7pm at Denny’s.  Motion passed unanimously.

 OTHER BUSINESS    

ADJOURNMENT   A motion was made by Dave Kroll and seconded by Dave Villwock to adjourn the meeting.  Motion passed unanimously.  NEWAL meeting adjourned.

The $10 door prize was won by Dave Villwock.
