MINUTES OF MONTHLY MEETING OF NORTHEASTERN WISCONSIN AREA LOCAL #2247
Date: Tuesday May 24th, 2022
Place: Gallagher’s
Vice President Dave Kroll called the meeting to order at 3 pm.
A quorum was declared with 22 members in attendance.
Dave Kroll led the Pledge of Allegiance and gave the Invocation.
The following officers were present: Vice President Dave Kroll, Secretary/Treasurer Art Ciesielczyk, Recording Secretary Jenny Starry, Maintenance Craft Director Lance Bouyear and Bay Breeze Editor Bill Kabacinski. President Kelly Heaney was excused.
Minutes of the April 2022 meeting were read by Jenny Starry.
A motion was made by Donna Hansen and seconded by Dave Villwock to accept the minutes as read. Motion passed.
The financial report for April was read by Secretary/ Art Ciesielczyk.
Executive Committee: The e-board discussed sending up to 8 members to steward training at the Marriott Aloft in Green Bay on June 16th and 17th and to spend up to $1000 for a hospitality suite, to endorse the candidates that sent letters to be on the National Ballot, OSHA adjudication of an asbestos floor hazard claim, cancelling the August meeting, writing an article in the Bay Breeze about employees’ rights and the National Convention. The e-board declared the Motor Vehicle Craft Director and the Clerk Craft Director positions vacant. Jenny Ewald was appointed Clerk Craft Director.
Labor/Management: Dave wasn’t aware of a meeting.
Grievance: Grievances were settled for supervisors doing clerk work at Cofrin. If you’re a steward and are denied union time, you should file labor board charges.
Safety/Health: You need to take care of yourself. Management is creating an unsafe and unhealthy work environment.
Legislative: The Postal Reform Bill passed so no more pre-funding of health insurance.
OWCP: Report accidents immediately. Repetitive motion injuries also.

Communications: Letters were received by candidates to be endorsed and put on the National Election Ballot.

NEW BUSINESS
A motion was made by Art Ciesielczyk and seconded by Terry Wentworth to send up to 8 members to steward training at the Marriott Aloft in Green Bay on June 16th and 17th to include lost time, including night differential, mileage, parking, registration and per diem, and to include up to $1000 for a hospitality suite. Motion passed.
A motion was made by Art Ciesielczyk and seconded by Albert Shamah to cancel the August meeting due to the picnic. Motion passed.
OTHER BUSINESS
A daily overtime list for clerks was discussed.
The plant got a warning for an asbestos floor hazard from OSHA. The situation was fixed and it was determined there is no health risk.
The picnic is as Four Seasons Park in Hobart on Sunday August 7th. It’s not being catered so let Kelly know if you’d like to help.
Jenny Ewald was sworn in as Clerk Craft Director.
NEXT MEETING
A motion was made by Dave Villwock and seconded by Terry Wentworth to have the next meeting on Thursday, June 23rd at 3pm at Gallagher’s. Motion passed.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Cheryl McCandless and seconded by Tim Wilinski to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed. Meeting was adjourned at 4:15 pm.
The $10 door prize was won by Kelly Armstrong.
The t-shirt/beanie door prize winners were Art Ciesielczyk and Jackie Kudick.
The $400 rolling jackpot winner was Lacy Buck. She was not present so it will be $420 at the next meeting.
