MINUTES OF MONTHLY MEETING OF NORTHEASTERN WISCONSIN AREA LOCAL #2247

Date:  Wednesday May 24th,2023

Place:  Gallagher’s.

President Kelly Heaney called the meeting to order at 2pm.

A quorum was declared with 25 members in attendance. 

Kelly Heaney led the Pledge of Allegiance and Andrew Prescher gave the Invocation. 

A motion was made by Dave Kroll and seconded by Bill Kabacinski to suspend the order of business and bring Laurie Gruber from American Income Life Insurance Company in to speak about benefits they provide to unions. Motion passed. 

A motion was made by Dave Kroll and seconded by Sue Pranke to allow Laurie to send everyone a postcard.  Motion passed. 

A motion was made by Dave Kroll and seconded by Sue Pranke to return to normal order of business.  Motion passed. 

The following officers were present:  President Kelly Heaney, Vice President Dave Kroll, Secretary/Treasurer Art Ciesielczyk, Recording Secretary Jenny Starry, Bay Breeze Editor Bill Kabacinski, Maintenance Craft Director Lance Bouyear, Clerk Craft Director Jenny Ewald and Motor Vehicle Craft Director Clade Adkins. 

Minutes of the April 2023 meeting were printed in the Bay Breeze.  A motion was made by Sue Pranke and seconded by Cheryl McCandless to accept the minutes.  Motion passed. 

The financial report for April were read by Secretary/Treasurer Art Ciesielczyk.  

Executive Committee:   The e-board discussed Laurie Gruber coming in and talking, filing a lot of non-compliance grievances and having the meetings at different places.   

Labor/Management:  Items discussed were having a CPR class, 2022 minutes taken down, pot holes, clerk access to EAS offices, parking in the front parking lot, updates on partition in men’s bathroom, hole in women’s bathroom, cleaning deficiencies, deep cleaning at Cofrin, a/c unit, fans by cancellers, no lunches, and people running out of annual leave.        

Grievance:  Non-compliance grievances are being filed on denial of steward time and unfilled jobs.  Grievances will be filed on reverted jobs.               

Safety/Health:                          

Legislative:  The bills currently in Congress are The Social Security Fairness Act, The Social Security Expansion Act, The Equal Cola Act, The Protecting the Right to Organize Act and The Vote at Home Act.                                              

OWCP:  If you get hurt at work, make sure you document everything if you’re filing workman’s comp.            

Constitution:      

New Members:  Ryan Schuster, Dominic Petroni, Sharon Fox, Jabreil Hogg, Adia Lehosky

Lost Members:  Zachary Harrison

Emily Ewald talked about the training seminar she attended in Stevens Point, she learned about effective grievance writing, pse’s and excessing.  Employee engagement, appointing an election committee and different places for union meetings were talked about. 

NEXT MEETING

A motion was made by Art Ciesielczyk and seconded by Dave Kroll to have the next meeting on Monday, June 26th at 3 pm at place to be determined.  Motion passed. 

ADJOURNMENT

A motion was made by Jackie Kudick and seconded by Andrew Prescher to adjourn the meeting.  Motion passed.  Meeting was adjourned at 3:35 pm.   

The $10 door prize was won by Lance Bouyear.

The $260 rolling jackpot winner was Amber Reed.  She was not present so it will be $280 at the next meeting.
