MINUTES OF MONTHLY MEETING OF NORTHEASTERN WISCONSIN AREA LOCAL #2247
Date: Tuesday, September 27th, 2022
Place: Gallagher’s
President Kelly Heaney called the meeting to order at 2:15 pm.
A quorum was declared with 16 members in attendance.
Kelly Heaney led the Pledge of Allegiance and gave the Invocation.
The following officers were present: President Kelly Heaney, Vice President Dave Kroll, Secretary/Treasurer Art Ciesielczyk, Recording Secretary Jenny Starry, Bay Breeze Editor Bill Kabacinski and Clerk Craft Director Jenny Ewald. Maintenance Craft Director Lance Bouyear was excused.
A motion was made by Dave Kroll and seconded by Art Ciesielczyk to suspend the order of business to include National Officers Charlie Cash, Director of Industrial Relations, Todd Elkerton, Clerk National Business Agent, and Curtis Walker, Maintenance National Business Agent in our meeting. Motion passed.
Minutes of the July 2022 meeting were printed in the Bay Breeze. A motion was made by Dave Kroll and seconded by Art Ciesielczyk to accept the minutes. Motion passed.
The financial reports for July/August were read by Secretary/Treasurer Art Ciesielczyk.
Executive Committee: The e-board discussed the fall seminar in Rothschild and purchasing a new laptop for Art.
Labor/Management: Some items discussed were red-tagging DPS racks, no supervisor or lead clerk here on Saturday night into Sunday morning, evacuation and shelter drills for new employees, A/C units, management not filling out 1260’s for doing clerk work, carrier accountable cage being left open, supplies being placed in register cage, crossing crafts customer service grievances for February, March and April not paid out and a job on the posting being cancelled.
Grievance: Another step 3 noncompliance was filed for tacs and one for denial of steward time.
Safety/Health:
Legislative: The Postmaster General’s Network Optimization Plan was discussed. When the bill containing buying back federal non-career time is brought up, it will not be opposed.
OWCP: If you get injured at work, report it to management, then go to OWCP.dol and fill out your own CA-1.
Constitution:
New Members: Shelly Westlake and Christopher LaFave
Lost Members: Carol retired. Gary Zebka retired.
COMMUNICATIONS
A letter was received from Pam Krause’s daughter thanking the union for winning the scholarship.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
NEW BUSINESS
A motion was made by Dave Kroll and seconded by Art Ciesielczyk to send up to 6 people to the fall training seminar in Rothschild on October 27th-29th to include lost time, per diem, parking, transportation and lodging. Motion passed.
A motion was made by Dave Kroll and seconded by Jenny Ewald to spend up to $1000 to buy a new computer for the Secretary/Treasurer. Motion passed.
OTHER BUSINESS
The National Officers discussed their meeting with postal management.
NEXT MEETING
A motion was made by Dave Kroll and seconded by Bill Kabacinski to have the next meeting on Tuesday, October 25th at 7 pm at Gallagher’s. Motion passed.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Art Ciesielczyk and seconded by Pam Krause to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed. Meeting was adjourned at 3:35 pm.
The $10 door prize was won by Deb Nehmer.
The t-shirt/beanie door prize winners were Jesse Weber and Dave Kroll.
The $120 rolling jackpot winner was Jay Teske. He was not present so it will be $140 at the next meeting.
