MINUTES OF MONTHLY MEETING OF NORTHEASTERN WISCONSIN AREA LOCAL #2247

Date:  Tuesday, March 26th, 2024

Place:  Gallagher’s

President Kelly Heaney called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

A quorum was declared with 20 members in attendance. 

Kelly led the Pledge of Allegiance and gave the Invocation. 

The following officers were present:  President Kelly Heaney, Vice-President Jenny Ewald, Secretary/Treasurer Art Ciesielczyk, Clerk Craft Director Sebastian Zeutzius, Maintenance Craft Director Samantha Fritz, Motor Vehicle Craft Director Clade Adkins, Recording Secretary Emily Ewald, and Bay Breeze Editor Bill Kabacinski.

Minutes of the February 2024 meeting were read by Emily Ewald.  A motion was made by Kelly Heaney to accept the minutes.  Motion passed. 

The financial report for February was read by Secretary/Treasurer Art Ciesielczyk.  

Executive Committee:  The e-board talked about National coming up here to talk about the problems in Green Bay, we have a contract coming up, and delaying mail which can become a problem with the upcoming election. The future of health care plan is changing. Get an audit committee of 3 volunteers to go over the books. No answer on the lunches or when they are starting.

Labor/Management:  No meeting was held.

Grievance: Grievances for associated offices for postmasters working over 15 hours, filed a grievance on more accountability on the registry cage and the cage in customer service, step 3 on reversion are being filled, as well as grievances on supervisors doing clerk work.

Safety/Health: A PSE got hurt reaching into a hamper for package, an accident report was filed.

Legislative:                                              

OWCP: If you get hurt at work fill out an accident report and make sure it says work related injury on Insurance.

Constitution:      

New Members:  Jeffery Hibbard, Nicole Birr, Brad Posey, Timothy Ellenich, and Thomas Haynes.

Lost Members:  Sue Pranke, Amy Vanderbloemen, Germaine Lasecki, and Denise Hall.

COMMUNICATIONS 

Discussion was held on restricting overtime hours, no accountability for delaying mail, political mail not being treated as first class, and newspapers not being delivered on time.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS  

Samantha Fritz, Jenny Ewald, and Sebastian Zeutzuis volunteered to audit the books. Thanked Art Ciesielczyk for serving as Treasurer for 4 years. Decided to not go to the four-state convention and just to go to the convention in La Cross.

NEW BUSINESS

OTHER BUSINESS    

A motion was made by Claude Adkins and seconded by Kelly Heaney to pay the annual intuit book subscription of $684.70. Motion passed.

NEXT MEETING

A motion was made by Kelly Heaney and seconded by Clade Adkins to have the next meeting on Wednesday, April 24th at 2:00pm at Gallagher’s.  Motion passed. 

ADJOURNMENT

A motion was made by Clade Adkins and seconded by Pam Krauss to adjourn the meeting.  Motion passed.  Meeting was adjourned at 8:05 pm.    

The $10 door prize was won by Kathy Fulwiler.

The $120 jackpot winner was Steven Heim. He was not present so it will be $140 at the next meeting.
