MINUTES OF MONTHLY MEETING OF NORTHEASTERN WISCONSIN AREA LOCAL #2247
Date: Wednesday, November 19, 2025
Place: Gallagher’s
President Jenny Ewald called the meeting to order at 7:08pm.
A quorum was declared with 15 members in attendance.
Jenny Ewald led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The following officers were present: President Jennifer Ewald, Vice President David Sass, Secretary/Treasurer Molly Crevier, Maintenance Craft Director Samantha Fritz, Recording Secretary Emily Ewald, and Bay Breeze Editor Bill Kabacinski. Clerk Craft Director Sebastian Zeutzius and Motor Vehicle Craft Director Clade Adkins were not present.
Minutes of the September 2025 meeting were printed in the Bay Breeze. A motion was made by Steve Paradise and seconded by David Sass to correct the previous motion to state the president and up to two to the four state and national convention. Motion passed. A motion was made by Steve Paradise and seconded by Molly Crevier to correct the minutes and move the Legislative category into the Grievance category. Motion passed. The minutes were accepted with the corrections.
The official financial report was read by Secretary/Treasurer Molly Crevier.
Executive Committee: Olivia Chumbley was appointed as a new steward on tour 3, ballots should be out and need to be returned by 8am Monday, December 1st. Safety issues are happing in multiple facilities, sent a second RFI for the climate assessment done in the Green Bay Plant, Holiday schedule and meeting with management, the possibility that the Union does the holiday scheduling. SIPS machine in the plant and staffing issues, Non-Pool clerks doing Pool clerk work.
Labor/Management: Items discussed were the plant is not losing or gaining any more mail processing machines, changes in the plant are scheduled for after peak season, LDRC meeting, and doing NMO’s in the plant.
Safety/Health: Items discussed were emergency response information and contacts need to be updated, envelopes should be available to fill out 1767’s to send to Milwaukee if people want to stay anonymous, AED flyers need to be taking down sense we do not have them anymore, bulletin boards need to be updated, fire and tornado drills need to be scheduled.
Grievance: Grievances were filed on line H for maintenance, MPE reversion, tax, out of schedule, discipline cases, using non-pool clerks, crossing crafts, overtime by-pass, and higher-level pay.
Legislative: APWU is asking members and their families to write to their Senators to support Senate Resolution 147, it expresses the sense of the Senate that Congress should work to keep the United States Postal Service an independent federal establishment and prevent its privatization. You can go to the APWU website to have them sent it for you.
OWCP: Repetitive motion injuries, report to supervisor. Document the day and time and what you said to the supervisor. OWCP can be filed online, you have up to 3 years to file.
Constitution: The constitution committee was giving he documentation to review and will be meeting to go over changes.
New Members: Katlynn Albert, Veronica Meeks, Willard Olson, and Roche Schmittinger.
Communications:
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A motion was made by Deborah Nehmer and seconded by David Sass to un-table the previous motion about purchasing 3 computers for the union hall. Motion Passed
A motion was made by Samantha Fritz and seconded by Molly Crevier to spend up to $3,000 to build 3 new computers for the union hall. A motion was made by Billy Kabacinski and seconded by Molly Crevier to amend the previous motion to include Labor for building the computers. Motion passed with the amendment.
NEW BUSINESS
A motion was made by Molly Crevier and seconded by Billy Kabacinski to give all retired members that attended the meeting a $15 gift certificate for the purchase of a turkey as a Thanksgiving gift. Motion passed.
OTHER BUSINESS
Emily Ewald talked about the Health Care Seminar. She learned about the new things and changes coming in our 2026 health care plan, they are not covering gender affirming care anymore, out of network ambulances will now be covered the same as in network ambulances, more information on Flexible Spending accounts, HIPPA Forms, Provider network has grown, learned more about Medicare and Medicare advantage for retired postal workers, Dental coverage is Careington Dental with the Consumer Driven Plan, weight loss drugs, wellness coaching, and the Calm Health App is available for free just go to myuhc.com and click mental health. Any Federal employee can enroll in the APWU plan, they just do not get the reduced rate.
NEXT MEETING
A motion was made by David Sass and seconded by Steve Paradise to have the next meeting on Thursday, January, 22nd at 6:40pm e-board, 7:00pm members at Gallagher’s. Motion passed.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Steve Paradise and seconded by Andrew Prescher to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed. Meeting was adjourned at 7:58pm.
The $10 door prize was won by Lisa Riemer.
The $120 jackpot winner was Kim Gerrits. Member was not in attendance. Jackpot will be $140 at the next meeting.
