MINUTES OF MONTHLY MEETING OF NORTHEASTERN WISCONSIN AREA LOCAL #2247
Date: Sunday, June 22nd, 2025
Place: Gallaghers
President Jenny Ewald called the meeting to order at 2:34pm.
A quorum was declared with 16 members in attendance.
Jenny Ewald led the Pledge of Allegiance and asked the members for a moment of silence for Chester “Chet” Czyz who unfortunately passed away Friday.
The following officers were present: President Jennifer Ewald, Vice President David Sass, Secretary/Treasurer Molly Crevier, Recording Secretary Emily Ewald, and Bay Breeze Editor Bill Kabacinski. Clerk Craft Director Sebastian Zeutzius, Motor Vehicle Craft Director Clade Adkins, and Maintenance Craft Director Samantha Fritz were excused.
Minutes of the June 2025 meeting were printed in the Bay Breeze. A motion was made by David Sass and seconded by Jon Hasart to accept the minutes. Motion passed.
The official financial report was read by Secretary/Treasurer Molly Crevier.
Executive Committee: The e-board unanimously voted to allow Kelly Heaney into the E-bored meeting. They then discussed getting rid of the 2nd PO Box and just having one for the union which would save $102 every 6 months. Secretary/Treasurer Molly Crevier getting compensated more for the extra hours she has been putting in. Having 2 $500 Tony Vans Scholarships. Putting a card for Chet in the breakroom, and sending arrangements to the funeral home. David Sass would like to attend the conventions in LaCross and Las Vegas. There will not be catering for the picnic because there was not enough in the budget this year. The constitutional committee needs to get together to make needed changes to the constitution.
Labor/Management: No Meeting
Safety/Health: No Meeting
Grievance: Grievances were filed for tax, and discipline cases. At Cofrin grievances were filed for crossing crafts and higher-level pay. Small offices grievances were filed on post master working over 15 hours of clerk work.
Legislative: David Sass informed the members that Senate removed the Bridge Payments from the bill, this was trying to change how retirement income is calculated. They proposed that instead your highest 3 years it would be your highest 5 years of pay to calculate your retirement.

New Members: Kiersten Aron, Ashley Ivalick, Kyle Gilberston, Michelle Manthei, Chanelle Williams.
Lost Members: Francisco Ponce Cuevas, Ali Rage
Communications: The union paid the bill for both PO Box’s, they will get rid of one and started a forwarding address to the main one. A motion was made by Molly Crevier and seconded by Emily Piontek to stop payment and get rid of the PO Box that was used for the Bay Breeze. Motion passed.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
NEW BUSINESS
A motion was made by David Sass and seconded by Molly Crevier to award 2 $500 Tony Van Scholarships to eligible participants. Motion passed.
A motion was made by David Sass and seconded by Bill Kabacinski that for the next 2 months Secretary/Treasurer Molly Crevier gets compensated 10 extra work hours for the extra work that she has been doing. Motion passed.
A motion was made by Molly Crevier and seconded by Jon Hasart to send Jenny Ewald to the fiduciary training and to cover travel, room, per deim, lost time, and registration. Motion passed.
A motion was made by Steve Paradise and seconded by Beth Detrie that all members that attend the Green Bay Labor Temple Picnic get reimbursed cost of admission if they bring in the wristband they receive. Motion passed.
OTHER BUSINESS
Discussion was held on the new contract and the benefits that we are looking to receive.
A motion was made by Steve Paradise and seconded by David Sass to have the NEWAL 2247 union go on record to vote yes on the new contract. Motion passed.
NEXT MEETING
A motion was made by Molly Crevier and seconded by David Sass to have the next meeting on Monday, July, 21st at 7:30am at Perkins on Military. Motion passed.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by David Sass and seconded by Emily Piontek to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed. Meeting was adjourned at 3:17pm.
The $10 door prize was won by Bill Kabacinski.
The $280 jackpot winner was Jennifer Buss. Member was not in attendance so will be $300 at the next meeting.
