MINUTES OF MONTHLY MEETING OF NORTHEASTERN WISCONSIN AREA LOCAL #2247
Date: Thursday, May 15th, 2025
Place: Kroll’s West
President Jenny Ewald called the meeting to order at 7:35pm.
A quorum was declared with 18 members in attendance.
Jenny Ewald led the Pledge of Allegiance and Steve Paradise gave the Invocation.
The following officers were present: President Jennifer Ewald, Vice President David Sass, Secretary/Treasurer Molly Crevier, Clerk Craft Director Sebastian Zeutzius, Motor Vehicle Craft Director Clade Adkins, Recording Secretary Emily Ewald, and Bay Breeze Editor Bill Kabacinski. Maintenance Craft Director Samantha Fritz was excused.
Minutes of the April 2025 meeting were printed in the Bay Breeze. A motion was made by Steve Paradise and seconded by Clade Adkins to accept the minutes. Motion passed.
The official financial report was read by Secretary/Treasurer Molly Crevier.
Executive Committee: The e-board unanimously voted to allow Jacqueline Walitalo into the E-bored meeting to allow her to see what its like. They then discussed the budget for this year and if we can order more T-shirts, decided to spend up to $3,000 ordering new shirts for members. BMU and VMF not taking lunches, and the grievance for maintenance to take lunches was settled, clerk craft grievance for lunches is being sent to step 2. Supervisors are trying to make changes in the absentee policy, that there are trying to make every day as an occurrence instead of 3 consecutive days is one. Discussed if the secretary/treasurer should get a pay increase for the amount of work that is involved. Discussed the different conferences coming up and who is attending, and a work station or computer is needed for stewards at coffrin/downtown.
Labor/Management: Items discussed were what other programs are going to be taking out of the plant, now we are slotted to keep the cancelers and no plan yet to get rid of the flat sorter. No excessing for the plant, and no plan to get rid of any automation machinery. Canceler run/start time are starting earlier but not tell August because of changes in transportation. More shifts in the plant might be moved to tour 2. Express/registry bags are being sent to Milwaukee. Coffrin is losing their 2 day window, Semi truck drivers are driving to fast around the VMF. 11 jobs are coming down off e-reassign, should have 9 PSE conversions. Supervisors in the plant harassing employees on the floor. Drop shipments were not being allowed on the dock from 2pm-4pm.
Safety/Health: Items discussed were the plant parking lot is in the process of being approved to be fixed, maintenance will order patch mix to fill in holes. The fire alarm system went off but not in the building, it was checked and back on and operational. The emergency door by the employee entrance was going off for more then 30 minutes without a supervisor being notified. The growing pile of clutter under the mezzanine behind flat sorter 20 is becoming a safety concern. Employees leaving the back door open on the dock, supervisors will give service talk. PA system in the back is not working, a ticket was put in to get it fixed. Holes in the floor downtown, clerks pulling empty equipment, fire extinguishers being blocked by equipment, and AC units in the plant not working.
Grievance: Step 2 for clerk craft on no lunches, maintenance grievance settled, discipline cases, coffrin conversion, overtime bypass, small offices the PTF’s working 1hr then forced to take lunch, window clerks that are on the overtime desired list are not allowed to come in early or work off day, tax grievances.
Legislative: Steve Paradise informed members that congress is discussing the retirement of Federal employees, including postal workers. They are trying to cut back on the money you get for retirement, they want to extend to a 5 year instead of a 3 year plan

A motion was made by Molly Crevier and seconded by Clade Adkins to spend up to $3,000 on a new order of union t-shirts.
Discussion was held on a pay increase for the secretary/treasurer.

A motion was made by Molly Crevier and seconded by Beth Detrie to have the next meeting on Sunday, June, 22nd at 2:30pm at Gallaghers. Motion passed.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Beth Detrie and seconded by Pam Krause to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed. Meeting was adjourned at 8:22pm.
The $10 door prize was won by Jackie Kudick.
The $260 jackpot winner was Mary Stadler. Member was not in attendance so will be $280 at the next meeting.
