MINUTES OF MONTHLY MEETING OF NORTHEASTERN WISCONSIN AREA LOCAL #2247

Date:  Thursday, October 16th, 2025

Place:  Gallagher’s

President Jenny Ewald called the meeting to order at 2:31pm.

A quorum was declared with 14 members in attendance. 

Jenny Ewald led the Pledge of Allegiance.

The following officers were present:  President Jennifer Ewald, Secretary/Treasurer Molly Crevier, Motor Vehicle Craft Director Clade Adkins, Maintenance Craft Director Samantha Fritz, Recording Secretary Emily Ewald, and Bay Breeze Editor Bill Kabacinski. Clerk Craft Director Sebastian Zeutzius was not present. Vice President David Sass was excused.

Minutes of the September 2025 meeting were read by Secretary Emily Ewald. The minutes were accepted as is.   

The official financial report was read by Secretary/Treasurer Molly Crevier.

Executive Committee: A unanimous vote was made by the e-bored to have Emily Piontek sit in the e-board meeting as she is the election chair. The e-board discussed keeping the motion for new computers for the union hall tabled because they have to look into the price, the number of people to send to national and state conferences for the upcoming year, the constitution committee is going to look over changes if anyone wants to help, gift certificates to all active members for Thanksgiving.

Labor/Management:  No meeting this month.

Safety/Health: No meeting this month.

Grievance: Grievances were filed on discipline (mostly attendance), national tax grievance for management doing clerk work, MPE reversion, Line H, overtime bypass.

Legislative: National is working on a clerk craft grievance to get more hours back to clerks instead of supervisors.

OWCP: A couple people have repetitive motion injuries, there is a need for more training. Always talk to a supervisor and write down when, file workman’s comp if you need to.

Constitution:

New Members: Katrina Cail, Carson Decker, Landon Magnin, Marissa Plog.

Lost Members:  Jackie Kudick retired.

Communications:

UNFINISHED BUSINESS  

The motion to purchase 3 computers for the union hall will stay tabled tell next meeting. The Secretary/Treasurer will look into the price of two options.

NEW BUSINESS

A motion was made by Molly Crevier and seconded by Samantha Fritz to spend up to $3,500 to be able to give all active members a $15 gift certificate for the purchase of a turkey as a Thanksgiving gift. Motion passed.

A motion was made by Clade Adkins and seconded by Molly Crevier to send the president and up to two to the state and national conventions; including lodging, lost time, per dem, parking, transportation, and registration. Motion passed.

OTHER BUSINESS     

Information will be provided about the upcoming health plan and if there are any changes after the seminar.

Molly Crevier talked about the National conference. She learned on how to handle credit cards better, reports, and taught a lot about the details of finances.

Jenniffer Ewald talked about the National conference. She learned about tax forms, things that need fixing, trusties, audits, election committee. From the maintenance side she learned about BEMs not being trained for a job and then sub-contraction outside businesses, changing the testing and interview process. Clerk craft classes she learned about e-reassign and transfers, canvasing, window clerks not using hand scanners to scan everything, push for clerk hours, organizing campaigns.

The floor was given to Election Committee Chairperson Emily Piontek to discusses all the nominations that she has received for the upcoming elections.

NEXT MEETING

A motion was made by Emily Piontek and seconded by Peter Knutson to have the next meeting on Wednesday, November, 19th at 6:30pm e-bored, 7:00pm members at Gallagher’s.  Motion passed. 

ADJOURNMENT

A motion was made by Pam Krause and seconded by Clade Adkins to adjourn the meeting.  Motion passed.  Meeting was adjourned at 3:33pm.    

The $10 door prize was won by Beth Detrie.

The $100 jackpot winner was Jordan Wenzel. Member was not in attendance. Jackpot will be $120 at the next meeting.
